Description
In 1957, in recognition of Abraham Flexner’s “important role in improving this nation’s educational and social institutions and practices,” the Association of American Medical Colleges established the Abraham Flexner Award for Distinguished Service to Medical Education. The first award was given to Flexner himself. This is that gold medal. The obverse has a portrait bust facing ¾ left, and “ABRAHAM FLEXNER A.B., A.M., LL.D., LITT.D., M.D.” The reverse is blank.
