Description
The obverse of this bronze medal has a portrait bust and “TERCENTENARY OF MARYLAND / 1634-1934” and “ALBERT CABELL RITCHIE / GOVERNOR.” The reverse has Leonard Calvert, the first proprietary governor of Maryland (holding instructions from Lord Baltimore), with Reverend Andrew White, Captain Thomas Cornwallis, and a Native American. Albert Cabell Ritchie (1876-1936) was a lawyer, judge, and governor of Maryland. This medal was created by the German-American artist, Hans Schuler, and struck by the Medallic Art Company in New York.
