This sewing or needle case has a label sewn inside "made by Mercy Slocum Akin for her grand-daughter Imogene Stuart before 1855."
Elizabeth Cundall (1761 RI - 1822 NY) married April 11, 1782, Matthew Slocum (1751/52 RI – 1838 NY). Daughter: Mercy Brownell Slocum (1783 R I-1866 NY) m. 1800 Ethan Akin (1779-1825) in NY. Daughter: Mary Loisa Akin (1818 NY-1898 CT) m. John Stuart (1807-1870). Daughter: Imogene Stuart (1845 CT – 1918 NE)
