Souvenir pincushion from the International Exhibition of Science, Art and Industry. The pincushion is shaped liked a Beatricebiscuit, and was a promotional item for the Gray Dunn & Co. biscuit brand.
The International Exhibition of Science, Art and Industry was held in Glasgow, Scotland between May and November 1888. Over five and half million visitors attended the exposition, whose Main Building was found in the city’s Kelvingrove Park. Although it’s exhibits primarily focused on Scottish and English achievements, the Exhibition featured displays from over 70 organizations, including some from such places as India, Europe and North America. Money from the Exhibition was used to build the Kelvington Art Gallery and Museum.
