The image of the medal obverse appears to be off-center. The "1798" should be at the base of the coin in order for the medal to have the proper alignment with the reverse. It is unknown to me how I obtained two of these, but they likely came from my grandfather. He was never in the Corps, but he did teach public health and do quite a bit of work in Southeast Asia. I imagine he was given the medals from friends he had in the Corps.
