A cloth label on these plankton nets reads “TURTOX PRODUCTS / MADE BY / General Biological Supply House / 8200 SOUTH XXX AVENUE / CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, U.S.A.” Turtox was the trademark of the General Biological Supply House, a firm founded in 1914 by Morris Miller Wells (1885-1930), assistant professor of zoology at the University of Chicago.
