- This instrument was made for use during World War I. The inscription reads “TRENCH PERISCOPE N° 10 X 75 MODEL 1918 MF’D BY WOLLENSAK OPT. CO. ROCHESTER, N.Y. U.S.A. N° 10763 R.G.C.” The Wollensak Optical Co. began in business, as such, in 1902.
