This award was presented to Ella Fitzgerald by the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), in 1975. It is a cast metal male figure holding a world globe on a black painted round wood base, with two engraved metal plates. The metal plates are engraved:

The NAACP Image Award, created by the NAACP Hollywood Branch in 1967, is an annual awards ceremony to honor outstanding performances in film, television, music, and literature. The Image Award recognizes achievement in over 40 categories that are voted on by the award organization's members. The NAACP Image Award also bestows Honorary awards such as the President's Award, the Chairman's Award, the Entertainer of the Year, and the Hall of Fame Award.
