This electrical resistance box was used at the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. The inscription reads “Queen & Co./ Makers / Phila.” A paper label in the lid reads, in part, “Electrical Laboratory / OF / QUEEN & CO. PHILA.” It is dated Feb. 23, 1892, and indicates that the set was adjusted in 1892, and the coils were checked in 1911.
