General Electric type CE direct current motor

Description (Brief):

Nameplate: "Continuous Current Motor; Shunt Wound; No. 96322; Type C.E. class 2-3 HP 1200; Form E; Speed 1200; Volts 500; Open HP 3 Amps 5.3; Closed H.P. 2 1/2; Amps 4.6. Pat. 2/14/88; 9/18/88; 10/9/88; 2/25/90; 11/10/91; 4/26/92; 12/14/97; 1/31/99 / General Electric Co. / Schenectady, NY." Enclosed DC motor with centrally-revolving armature and drive pulley wheel. Commutator segments on one end of shaft have two carbon brushes affixed. Four binding posts appear on top of frame. Similar to motor described in General Electric Co., Power and Mining Dept. Bulletin No. 4180, May 1, 1899.
