Description
Match safes were designed to hold friction matches. This one, made of metal with celluloid inserts, has the words “RALPH SLAZENGER / 1909-10 / SHERIFF OF LONDON” on one side, and a colored portrait on the other. Ralph Slazenger (1844 – 1910) and his brother made and sold sports wear in London. He served as sheriff in 1909.
