U.S. Army Signal Corps pack-strap type radio receiver

Description (Brief):

Black bakelite panel 9" X 10 1/2", leaves recess 4" wide for headset (missing from this unit). Panel contains 4 knobs, 2 battery type clips and square brass frame apparently to hold data. Weight 10 pounds. Bureau of Standards #R-2212 written on tag found in files. Label in files reads: "Radio equipment in the First World War was neither as compact nor as light as that in the Second. This is a portable one-tube receiver which was used by the U.S. Army Signal Corps for field communications. Like the other equipment shown here, headphones were used to listen to the signals."
