This divided orange box contains eighty-seven CDC 101 transistors, made by General Instrument Company for sale with a CDC 160 minicomputer. For the minicomputer, see acquisition 1977.0173.
Control Data introduced the CDC 160 in 1960, following the design of Seymour Cray. According to the accession file, the example in the Smithsonian collections was the first produced. The machine was discarded in 1974. Hence the rough date of 1965 assigned to various components.
