Bristow Coil

Description:

Bristow coil, No. 7005, s/n 943, with a “McIntosh Battery & Optical Co., of Chicago” label in the lid. That firm operated under this name from around 1889 to around 1921. Joseph B. Rogoff, the donor, was Director of Rehabilitation Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center, in New York City. The form was associated with Walter Rowley Bristow (1882-1947), a noted British orthopedic surgeon.
