Description
Unmounted gelatin silver print of Laszlo Moholy-Nagy's photomontage titled "Das Gebäude der welt". The print is a montage of structural elements, perhaps metal scaffolding, women's legs, pelicans, and a monkey on a white background. The composition features strong diagonal and horizontal lines, which create geometric sections of white space and images. The title is written in pencil on verso of the print, but the work is known elsewhere as "Das Veltgebaude". The piece was also published with the English title "The Structure of the World". Complete text on verso reads "L. Moholy-Nagy / Das Gebaude der Welt / Fotoplastik 1926". This print was probably reproduced later from the original print made in 1926.
