Mold for Plate for Artificial Teeth

Description:

Patent model for Levi Gilbert, “Plate for Artificial Teeth,” U.S. Patent 5447 (Feb. 15, 1848). An inscription reads “LEVI GILBERT.” Levi Gilbert was a confectioner in New Haven, Ct., who had the idea of using atmospheric pressure to help hold the plate in place.
