The Commodore 1541 disk drive allowed users to store a maximum of 174,000 bytes of data or up to 144 different programs and/or data files on a single 5 ¼” floppy diskette. The circuitry for the drive included 16K of ROM (read only memory which stored the operating program) and 2K of RAM (random access memory) enabling it to process data without using any of the computer’s memory. The drive came with a power cable, serial bus cable, a demonstration diskette, and a user’s manual.
This disk drive has serial # AM1A01751 and was purchased in 1984 by the donor for their Commodore 64.
