Celluloid Box with Lid
Celluloid Box with Lid
- Description
- After World War I, hoping to use its nitrocellulose facilities for domestic and industrial (rather than military) production, Du Pont promoted pyralin, a nitrocellulose plastic akin to celluloid. The term “Ivory” suggested elegance. Du Barry was a style on the market by the early 1920s. This celluloid box with lid has an "IVORY Py-Ra-Lin / DUBARRY" inscription.
