- General Information: The Square is a piece of hardware mounted and used on a mobile device to swipe debit and credit cards. This invention allows everyday people to accept payments from credit cards. Entrepreneurs of small businesses, garage sales, farm stands, and farmer's markets are amongst the people who profit from this new ability. The Square was the first device of its kind.
