- Description
- Benjamin Pike, Jr. (1808-1864) won this bronze medal in 1853. The obverse has a goddess, a winged god, a second woman, “J. A. OERTEL DEL” and “C. C. WRIGHT SC.” The reverse has “EXHIBITION / OF THE / INDUSTRY / OF ALL NATIONS / NEW-YORK / 1853." Johannes Adam Simon Oertel (1823-1909) was a German-American clergyman and artist. Charles Cushing Wright (1796-1854) was an American artist and engraver.
