Description
John Locke (1792-1856) was a graduate of Yale College; a surgeon in the U.S. Navy; a chemist and geologist; an educator who established schools for girls in Lexington, Ky., and Cincinnati, Ohio; and an inventor. This is the patent model for his surveyor’s transit.
