Description
This set of nested weights, many of which are marked “MARCS,” may have been made in Nuremberg for use in France. The Marc (or Mark) is a unit of weight equal to 8 oz. or one-half pound, that was introduced in Europe in the medieval period. This is a 16 pound set.
