- Description (Brief)
- Metal adjustable, crutch pole with a circular, metal attachment at the top which is surrounded by a black nylon strap for tightening to the arm. There is a red rubber handle attached midway down the pole for the athlete to grab onto for support. A black fiberglass ski tip is attached to the end of the pole. The ski has metal teeth attached to the back for braking, slowing down and steering the mono ski. This pair of outriggers, used to steer the mono ski, were adapted from regular skis. Retrofitting existing technology was often the easiest way to create adaptive equipment. Sports equipment manufacturers began producing adaptive equipment in the 1970s to satisfy growing demand in the adaptive sports industry.
