Description
This memento came from the home of John William Draper, in Hasting-on-Hudson, New York. The label reads: “From the Grave / of / Sir Humphrey Davy / (forget me not) / Collected by Martyn Paine, M.D. / Geneva July 9th 1847.” Martyn Paine (1794-1877) was a physician and professor of medicine in New York. Humphrey Davy (1778-1829) was a British chemist and inventor who served as president of the Royal Society of London.
