- Description
- The Taylor Instrument Co. donated this aneroid barograph to the Smithsonian in 1923. An inscription on the frame reads “Tycos Stormograph / Reg. U.S. PAT. OFF. / Short & Mason / London / MADE IN ENGLAND.” A tag reads “Taylor / Instrument Companies / Rochester, N.Y. U.S.A.”
- The firm of Short & Mason was formed in London in 1875, and was acquired by Taylor Instrument Companies of Rochester ca. 1900. The term Stormograph came into use in 1913.
