Description
Glass lantern slide in a rectangular wooden frame. The front of the frame is incised “T.H. MC ALLISTER / OPTICIAN N.Y.” A paper label on one edge reads “Interesting Subjects, –Willow Leaf – Sun.” The image shown is a sunspot. The “Willow Leaf” pattern on the sun was described in 1860 by the British astronomer, James Nasmyth.
