Description
This stereo magnifier belonged to Spencer Fullerton Baird, the naturalist who served as the second Secretary of the Smithsonian. The “SMITH BECK & BECK / PATENT / LONDON” inscription on the brass frame refers to a firm that was in business, as such, from 1857 to ca. 1867. The patent has not been identified.
