Schoolboy with a Quill

Usage conditions apply
This 19th Century oil painting is of a young boy doing a writing assignment using a quill pen. He is well-dressed and wears a blue suit and a white, ruffled shirt. He is seated at a bench desk, used in the first half of the 19th Century for recitation lessons. The artist’s signature is in red in the lower right corner; however, it is illegible. The painting has an elaborate, gilded wooden frame.
