- Mr. Tiger Al Kaline (b. 1934) played outfield and first base for the Detroit Tigers from 1953-1974, making 18 All-Star games and receiving 10 gold gloves over the course of his career. Retiring with a lifetime.297 batting average, Kaline finished with 3,007 hits, 399 home runs and 1,583 runs batted in. A member of Detroit’s 1968 World Series Championship team, Kaline was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980.
