The “BATTERSEA / … / MORGAN / …” inscription on the side of this crucible refers to the Morgan brothers who established the Patent Plumbago Crucible Company, in Battersea, London, in 1856. That firm became the Morgan Crucible Co. in 1881, and is now Morgan Advanced Materials.
