Description
Alsace or Rhineland Type I lidded and spouted baluster flagon or pichet with cupped rim, narrow bulging belly, and tall tapered base with flat bottom; entire body decorated with bands of thick and thin incised lines. Heart-shaped, slightly pouted lid with applied boss at top center. D- or ear-shaped strap handle with undulating floral vine decoration on its face has an angled and engraved thumb piece, rope- or cable-pattern extension, and flat lower terminal; five-knuckle hinge. Large circular rosette touch on inside bottom.
