Gill Measure
- Description
- Bristol Low or West Country measure; gill size. Plain, squat conical or ovoid body; plain, everted rim with pouring spout; molded, flared foot. Tapered, S-scroll handle has an arched and S-curved thumbrest; upper terminal attached at top of rim and short lower terminal near bottom of body. Front of body stamped "GILL" in incuse sans serif letters. Rim exterior with partial, worn stamp below spout of a crowned "VR" or figure inside a circle.
