Description
Insulated ovoid pitcher with a domed, double-walled and anthemion hinged lid topped by a cast four-leaved bud on conical stepped foot; matching fleur-de-lis finials on the anthemion spout cover and high-loop handle with square-scrolled upper terminal, arc lower terminal and faceted sockets. Flat chased grapevine decoration around upper body with "JKS" engraved at center of one side in large conjoined shaded script and "Feb. 10. 1869." on the other. Seamless interior wall has a convex perforated strainer at spout. Bottom underside has two drilled holes flanking an affixed circular metal medallion or tag stamped incuse "MF'D & PLATED BY / REED & BARTON" above "EGG SHAPED DESIGN / SEAMLESS LINED / PAT'D.APRIL 23.1867" and "833" in serif and sans serif letters.
