Description
Small, seamed octagonal or 8-panel-sided mug on flared cylindrical base with rococo-style, repousse chased foliate decoration and die-rolled, shell-patterned bands at rim and base. Foliate and ruffled C scroll reserve opposite the spurred scroll handle bears the engraved inscription "Cassy Mason / from her / Uncle" in script; pendant tulips and scrolled foliage fill the remaining panels. Inset flat bottom is struck on underside "BAILEY & CO." and "PHILAD." both in raised serif letters in rectangles, above and below centerpunch; illegible letters scratched to left.
