Strainer

Description:

Raised shallow circular bowl with bulging sides, rounded bottom, and plain rim; a circular ring and U-bent clip engraved "V•D / H•M" in shaded roman letters are attached to one side. Bottom of bowl is pierced with small holes arranged into eight concentric circles around one at center. Face of clip is struck once below engraved initials "IBV" in raised serif letters in an oval.

Maker is John Brevoort (circa 1715-1775) of New York, NY.
