Description
Charles II fourpence ladle with downturned, twisted baleen or whalebone handle. Raised, chased and repousse bowl has a C scroll reserve on front engraved "A*S" flanked by baskets of flowers and fruits; plain flared rim and single pouring spout with coin set in at bottom center. Handle secured into long conical socket with single silver pin. Vestiges of marks on underside of spout. Decade scratched out on coin reverse, possibly was "1679".
