This handheld electronic calculator has an aluminum case with plastic trim and an array of twenty-four rectangular plastic keys. These include ten digit keys, a decimal point key, a total key, four arithmetic function keys, four memory keys, a square root key, a percentage key, a change sign key, and a clear entry/clear key. The on/off switch is to the left in the top row of keys. Text below the keyboard reads: ELECTRONIC CALCULATOR LC-830 (/) TOSHIBA. Above the keyboard is an eight-digit liquid crystal display.
A sticker on the back of the calculator reads in part: TOSHIBA (/) ELECTRONIC CALCULATOR (/) LC-830 (/) DC 4.5V SILVER OXIDE BATTERY. It also reads: NO. 247832 BM (/) TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO, LTD. JAPAN.
The calculator is in a plastic wallet that is marked on the front: MADE IN JAPAN. The wallet also contains a pad of paper and a leaflet of instructions.
