John R O'Brien

Description:

Oil on illustration board. Portrait of Corporal John R. O'Brien. Medals include the Médaille Militaire and the Croix de Guerre with palm. O'Brien wears the 2nd Infantry Division patch insignia on the shoulder of his left arm sleeve and a 23rd infantry collar disk. He has a rifle slung over his back and rests a M1917 helmet on his lower left arm. O'Brien is painted in front of a white background and is turned to his right, facing away from the viewer. His signature in gold crayon is mid center. Catalogue card reads: Painted in France by Jos. C. Chase. Presented in 1922-31".
