Watercolor and charcoal on paper board. Depicted is the waterfront at the Old Harbor at Marseille, 1918, during World War I. There are several large buildings with orange tiled roofs and colorful green and blue shutters. There is laundry hanging on lines between the buildings and there are large colorful signs hanging from the buildings. There are several people out on the street in front of the buildings, one of whom at the center, wearing a red and blue uniform, is possibly a zouave. There is a truck loaded with cargo at center right, several orange barrels at right, and small boat tied to a larger boat, docked at left. Signed at bottom right by the artist, "W.J. Aylward, A.E.F. '19"
