three looped lines

Description (Brief):

This engraved wood block was likely prepared to print an image in one of the volumes associated with the publication "United States Exploring Expedition, During the Years 1838, 1839, 1840, 1841, 1842." It is not represented in any of the volumes of the report, however, and it may have been decided, at the time of the printing, not to use the image.
