Stacking Rice Luzon

Description (Brief):

This engraved wood block was likely prepared to print an image in the publication "The Narrative of the United States Exploring Expedition, During the Years 1838, 1839, 1840, 1841, 1842." The image was not published with any of the expedition volumes but is of the same style and subject as images in that publication. A plate engraved image of the same subject after Joseph Drayton was published as "Stacking Rice, Luzon," in Volume 5, page 306. The engraved plate is not a holding of the Graphic Arts Collection.
