Covered bowl
Covered bowl
- Description
- An unknown craftsman in Frankfurt, Germany, decorated this tin-glazed earthenware bowl and cover with hand-painted, cobalt blue flower and bird motifs about the year 1700. Nearly two centuries later, John Brinton Copp donated the bowl--and a large collection of imported ceramic, glass, textile, and clothing artifacts used by his ancestors in Stonington, CT--to the Smithsonian.
