Balance

Description:

This is essentially a steelyard mounted on a stand. The inscriptions at top and bottom read “BUFFALO SCALE CO.” One side of the beam is graduated from 0 to 160, and inscribed “BUFFALO / SCALE CO. / U.S.A.” The firm referred to this as a Paper Scale with Stand, noting that it was designed for “determining the number of pounds to the ream by the weight of one sheet.”
