Description
"Rose Path" overshot coverlet; early 19th C.. Rose path weave, block pattern. Pairs of crosswise white bars intersect pairs of chain-like lengthwise bars, forming blocks about 41/2" x 5" square. The chain like motifs are created from the weave, based on rosepath threading. Made with 2 ply s twist white cotton and 2 ply s twist blue wool. Center seam is stitched with the indigo wool of which the cloth is woven top and bottom hems are stitched with indigo 2 ply s twist linen. No fringes or borders.
