Linen Towel Decorated With Vase and Bird Motifs in Drawn Thread Work

Description:

Drawn thread work towel or runner. The motifs are symmetrical with a vase in the center of each strip surrounded by birds or other animals. The initials "B N D" are embroidered with pink cross stitches. One edge of the towel is the selvage and the other is rolled and hemmed by hand. A 6-inch woven and knotted fringe of a different thread is added to one end, probably at a later date.
