Description
A rectangular, framed, counted work, embroidered picture in wool, silk, silk chenille, and paper; Biblical subject, depicting Ruth and Boaz at the barley field. (Book of Ruth). The central figure is Boaz, speaking to Ruth who is kneeling at his feet. To Boaz's left is a young servant, a bowl in one hand and a water jug in the other hand. Ruth holds a sheaf of grain, The figures are dressed in Biblical attire of robes. In the center at right side of picture is a well with water flowing from it into a trough. Left center has a field of grain. A tree hands over the well. Mountains an dsky are in the background. Iin the two upper corners is stitched scroll, framing the picture making it curved on the two upper corners.
