- In 1970, Coca Cola began market testing bottles made of Lopac, a plastic product of the Monsanto Company. The inscription on this early example reads “No Deposit / No Return / Coke / Coca-Cola / 10 Fl. Oz.” By 1974, the search was on for a recyclable version.
