Description (Brief)
John Bateman (1940-1996) was one of many players featured on collectible coins made by Topps and included in packs of baseball cards.
Bateman played Major League Baseball for the Houston Colt.45’s/Astros (1963-68,) Montreal Expos (1969-72,) and Philadelphia Phillies (1972.) The catcher finished his career with a lifetime.230 batting average, with 81 home runs and 375 runs batted in. A respected signal caller, he caught two no hitters.
