Description
This Willie Sojourner basketball card is number 23 in a series of 264 that was manufactured by the Topps Company Inc. for the 1972-1973 American Basketball Association season. The front of the card features a posed picture of the Virginia Squires center-forward on a yellow background. The card’s reverse features a small cartoon image illustrating the factoid that “Willie is one of eleven children,” as well as a short biography and career statistics.
Sojourner played in the ABA from 1971-1975, spending two seasons with the Virginia Squires and two with the New York Nets. Sojourner was a member of the Nets in 1974 when they won the ABA title.
