- The Preakness Stakes has been run at Baltimore MD’s Pimlico racetrack since 1873. The second leg of horse racing’s triple crown, the race is held in May, after the Kentucky Derby and before the Belmont Stakes.
- This exacta ticket comes from the 1979 Preakness, won by Kentucky thoroughbred Spectacular Bid, jockeyed by 19-year-old Baltimore native Ronnie Franklin. Spectacular Bid and Franklin also won that year’s Kentucky Derby.
